Administrators under pressure to amend strict cellphone ban at Greenwich High School

Greenwich Public School Superintendent, Dr. Toni Jones, unilaterally (without Board of Education approval or community input) recently re-wrote the cell phone policy for grades K-12 containing particularly severe "Away All Day" restrictions on their use at the high school, even during free time. See earlier story here.

Looks like the school administration is feeling the heat from students and the community who were not consulted. High School Principal Ralph Mayo said in a note to families on Wednesday that a high school committee will be formed composed of student government members, staff and select family members to make proper adjustements if needed. He said thet "maybe we will go in a different direction for times like lunch."

Between the lines: A petition has circulated with almost 1,000 signatures to reverse this policy. Petition here.
