Some shocking comments were made at an immigration services (IRIS) meeting held in New Haven on Dec 5, as reported by the CT Centinal here, The meeting was held to prepare for "less compassionate" immigration policy changes under the incoming Trump administration.
CT Democrat Attorney General William Tong has vowed to protect and support immigrants, including illegals who broke the law to come here. Tong said "America runs on Dunkin and undocumented workers". He claims CT would be "Toast" without illegals. If you like strawberries, avocados, and hamburger meat, he said, these were likely packed not just by immigrant workers, but undocumented immigrant workers. It's hard to find a restaurant in Connecticut that doesn't have an illegal washing dishes.
Democrat Mayor Justin Elicker of sanctuary city New Haven stated that everyone, including illegals, can still access health care, education and other services and the city has no duty to do the federal government's job of law enforcement.
Between the lines: Welcome to the compassionate state of Connecticut, where taxpayers make undocumented immigrants feel right at home.
