The impact of higher grocery prices was the subject of a news conference on Monday in New Haven. Lawmakers promised action to crack down on greedy suppliers who have made pandemic premiums and “shrinkflation” both lasting trends.
At the state level, Democrat Attorney General William Tong said that Connecticut lawmakers need to pass measures to allow more rigorous probes of grocery chains and their suppliers. His office has been investigating allegations of grocery price-gouging for the past several months.
