CT ratepayers on the hook for EV rebates

Buried in the 2024 budget, approved by the Democrat-controlled CT General Assembly and signed by Governor Ned Lamont on May 30, was a diversion of Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) funds to subsidize Electric Vehicle (EV) rebates.  Many of these rebates go to the wealthy who can easily afford to purchase an EV of up to $50,000 without a rebate.

Between the lines: This places the financial burden of this EV welfare on ratepayers in CT who already face the fifth highest electricity rates in the country.
