CT Democrat U.S. Senator Chris Murphy had strong words for his Senate colleague JD Vance from Ohio. Murphy said of the newly-minted Republican Vice President nominee, that he was a Christian Nationalist with an antipathy for democracy.
Vance has dismissed terms such as Christian nationalism as a scare tactic. Vance is an adult convert to Catholocism and is married to Usha who comes from a Hindu family. He also believes strongly in the U.S. Constitution.
Murphy ripped JD Vance, a 39-year-old Yale Law School grad, marine veteran and author of Hillbilly Elegey (see trailer here.) as providing an "intellectual veneer" for Republicans.
Between the lines: Murphy is becoming more vocal and combative lately as faces what many have said is an easy re-election in November, but with Trump rising in the polls, maybe not.
