On Thursday, January 23, the Greenwich Selectmen will vote on the now fast-tracked North Street Bridge replacement project. This is a heavily trafficked part of Town with many schools nearby. Local residents successfully lobbied to accelerate the project time frame.
The project includes a 12 week summer detour plan that is supposed to shorten the completion time frame which was originally expected to be almost two years. Once the summer detour is over, traffic will run alternately in a one-way direction until the project is finished.
The detour map is posted here. It covers 2.7 miles and includes North Street, Fairfield Road, Old Church Road, East Putnam Avenue and North Maple Avenue.
Between the Lines - Can we be confident that this Town project will be completed when promised? What about the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center that was expected to open in 2024?
