Large affordable housing complex proposed near Cos Cob station

Where: Called Ferris Landing, the project proposed by Greenwich Communities (Housing Authority) is located on 0 Strickland Road near the Cos Cob Train and I-95 on an underused Town parking lot. Four buildings with 48 units every one designated as "Affordable."

When: Snow cancelled the earlier attempt for Greenwich Communities to hold a community forum on this proposal and it has now been rescheduled for March 11. The forum will take place at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room. It will also be live streamed over Zoom.

Concerns: Concerns are flooding, traffic, removal of many trees and density. According to First Selectman Camillo, "the 8-30g mandates from the State, which I continue to oppose, are a huge burden on Greenwich and proposals like this are a way to satisfy our requirements." Camillo seems to favor this project as a way to get us closer to our State-mandated affordable quota and avoid the 8-30g mandates that allow developers to build higher and more dense apartments than local zoning allows..
