Fewer Greenwich High School (GHS) juniors received mastery scores on the math portion of the SAT exam. This year only 60.6% received a mastery score, a drop of 4.3% from the 63.3% achieved in 2023. Reasons for the drop were blamed on a new fully online exam making it harder to do math calculations and the inclusion of more algebra concepts.
Good news. This year, in the English portion of the exam, 81.9% of GHS students earned mastery scores, a rise of 6.6% over last year's 76.8%.
Between the lines: A "mastery" score means earning at least 520-530 on the that portion of the SAT. The 520-530 score is a low hurdle representing the 50th percentile (average) on the exam..
