GreenwichWise Celebrates the Wise Men

Updated: Jan 7

Celebrated on the 12th day after Christmas, the Epiphany is the time when the wise men (Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar) who were Gentiles from the East, followed the star to find and worship the baby Jesus. These wise men, aka Magi, brought gifts of gold, frankincense and Myrrh and returned home avoiding the paranoid King Herod who wished to find and kill the infant. The most famous food to celebrate the Epiphany is the indulgent French Galette Des Rois, known as the King's Cake, which often has a bean or little plastic trinket of the baby Jesus hidden inside.
