Independence Day flag raising Thursday July 4

Greenwich will celebrate Independence day with its annual flag raising and salute to America at Town Hall on Thursday July 4 at 9 am. The first American flag will be raised and representatives from Greenwich Scouts will parade the flag of the 13 original colonies, including Connecticut.

There will be a salute to the patriots who served in the cause of freedom during the American revolution and the event will honor the country’s veterans and the descendants of Greenwich’s early settlers. Students will be receive Good Citizen Awards, the Sound Beach Community Band will play and there will be a large American flag birthday cake.

Between the lines: The long awaited painting of Town Hall means it is likely that the ceremony will be held in the back of Town Hall.
