Old Greenwich School renovation faces rising costs

Construction estimates for the Old Greenwich School renovation have risen by $1.5 million to a total of $44.3 million as reported by the Greenwich Time.

The cost increase was blamed on the delay in approvals. Another reason given, was the need to have a hygienist on site 24/7 while "abatement activity" takes place to take air samples during the work.

The $44.3 million covers a renovated building. The good news is that they have not cut out the play ground replacement. The bad news is that many of the windows and the roof will not be replaced and some of the plantings and window treatments will be cut back to contain costs.

The project is expected to begin in the summer of 2025.
