Old Greenwich wins village district overlay designation

Old Greenwich is now one of 28 towns in CT to adopt the village district overlay designation. It was approved last week by the Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission.

The designation establishes a review process that protects the distinctive look of an area. The goal is preserving and enhancing the traditional land use patterns, scale and architectural styles of the Old Greenwich commercial center. The plan also asks developers to endeavor to bury utility lines and eliminate service poles.

Between the lines: Let's keep the "Old" in Old Greenwich and obtain this designation for every community in Greenwich.
