Police admit Greenwich has an uptick in car thefts and break-ins

In the month of January 2025, ten cars were stolen in Greenwich, an increase over prior periods. Eight of the ten have been recovered. The Greenwich Police Department posted data about it on their Facebook page here.

The most frequent crime related calls they received in January were for larcenies, closely followed by motor vehicle thefts. To help prevent these incidents, police urge all residents to remember to lock and remove keys/fobs from vehicles, and secure any valuable items out of sight.

Between the Lines - Yes, we will not leave the keys or valuables in the car, but it would be helpful if the police provided profiles of those caught, including where the thieves are from. Let's get to the root of this problem and solve it.
