Should CT taxpayers fund local news organizations?

A proposed bill by Democrats in Hartford is hoping to establish a tax credit for news organizations that cover local communities in Connecticut. The credit would amount to $15,000 for each journalist employed in the state and $25,000 per new journalist hired.

Editor of the CT Examiner said this is an invitation to mischief to soak up money rather than write the news.

L. Todd Wood, owner of CDM and the Connecticut Centinal, said this benefits state-funded media.

The Greenwich Patriots organization said "the result will be even more manipulated and distorted information in favor of the ruling party, further preventing the public from making informed decisions, thereby undermining our democracy."

Between the Lines - Why is CT using our tax dollars to create their own version of Pravda - the Russian propaganda news agency? Not a good idea.
