The US Post Office is losing about $8 billion annually and since 2006, the number of letters mailed has been nearly cut in half. On July 14, stamp prices will rise +7.3% to 73 cents.
How big of a deal is this increase? Connecticut Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal says it’s one step closer to killing off the post office.
Between the lines: The stamp price increase is also one step closer to to ending those Christmas cards and handwritten letters you want to receive and getting a mailbox full of unwelcome junk mail.
