Shaborn Smith 35, Mount Vernon NY is a third person who has been charged in a "grab and go" larceny of luxury handbags from Saks Fifth Avenue in Greenwich. The other thieves charged include Richard Bailey of Rochelle, NY and Billy Pettiford. They are part of an organized larceny ring operating out of Mount Vernon, NY responsible for the smash and grab of $41,300 worth of stolen Chanel handbags from Saks Fifth Avenue on September 21, 2023. The Mount Vernon group who are known to carry weapons have stolen $400,000 of high end goods in stores through the tri-state area.
Six masked men charged into our local Saks Fifth Avenue store ripping 15 Chanel handbags off the anti-theft cables and knocking over display cases. They jumped into a rented white Ford Expedition. The security worker got the license plate number and give it to police. The suspect has an extensive criminal record including arrests for possession of a controlled substance, assault, strangulation and grand larceny.
